Study Finds Large Gap in Excess Deaths Along Partisan Lines After COVID-19 Vaccines Introduced < Yale School of Public Health

The study found that overall, the excess death rate for Republican voters was 5.4 percentage points, or 76%, higher than the excess death rate for Democratic voters. After COVID-19 vaccines became widely available, the excess death rate gap between Republicans and Democrats widened from 1.6 percentage points to 10.4 percentage points.

"The gap in excess death rates between Republicans and Democrats is concentrated in counties with low vaccination rates"

Does COVID-19 vaccination cause excess deaths?

How was the situation in the United States? From the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System co-managed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration, we obtained the number of deaths within 7 days after COVID-19 vaccination in the United States from December 2020 to May 2021.4 The demographic structure of the United States was available from CDC Wonder online database,5 and the COVID-19 vaccine coverage rate from CDC Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report.6 These data were used to calculate the proportion of deaths within 7 days after receiving COVID-19 vaccination per 100 1000 vaccinated persons, stratified by gender and age group. It was found that the mortality rate within 7 days after COVID-19 vaccination was higher for males than females and increased with age. But it was still much lower than the background mortality rate

Scary Reports of Deaths Following COVID-19 Vaccination Aren’t What They Seem

The misinformation strategy.

Opponents of vaccination use the VAERS numbers in statements that suggest cause-and-effect conclusions. This misinformation then influences some people not to be vaccinated.

In this case, the numbers are correct, but the presumed conclusions are not.

Stevan Whitt, MD, an infectious disease doctor and chief medical officer at MU Health Care, gets questions about these claims regularly, and he wants people to have the right information.

"This intentional misrepresentation is a powerful tactic to sow confusion among large groups of people," Whitt said.

To address the misinformation about VAERS, the CDC shares context around adverse events associated with the COVID-19 vaccines and emphasizes that reports of deaths (and other adverse events) do not necessarily mean the vaccines are to blame. "

Frontiers | Mortality Rate and Characteristics of Deaths Following COVID-19 Vaccination

"Results: As of January 8, 2021, 55 deaths were reported, and the mortality rate of COVID-19 vaccination was 8.2 per million population. A total of 37 deaths were reported among long-term care facility residents, and the mortality rate was 53.4 per million population. Top reported comorbidities associated with deaths included hypertension, dementia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), diabetes, and heart failure. In addition, dementia was more likely to be associated with deaths vaccinated at long-term care facilities than at other locations.

Conclusion: The benefits of COVID-19 vaccines outweigh the potential risks in older frail populations, and our findings do not support actions to exclude older adults from being vaccinated. However, continued monitoring of COVID-19 vaccination is still warranted."

What Happens to Your Body When You Eat Meat and Dairy Every Day?

But after analyzing the available data, Murray and his team found that the association between meat consumption and health outcomes was inconsistent. "These effects are not big, and the evidence is not strong," he said.

Many of these studies are based on small sample sizes, and the results are often biased by numerous confounding variables. For example, it is difficult to untangle whether it is the lack of meat in a vegetarian's diet that reduces their association with poor heart health or whether it is their increased intake of vegetables.

Incidence of Myocarditis/Pericarditis Following mRNA COVID-19 Vaccination Among Children and Younger Adults in the United States | Annals of Internal Medicine

In this population-based surveillance, we found that myocarditis/pericarditis 0 to 7 days after mRNA vaccination in persons aged 5 to 39 years occurred in approximately 1 in 200 000 doses after the first dose and 1 in 30 000 doses after second dose of the primary series, and 1 in 50 000 doses after the first booster. The incidence varied markedly by age and sex, however, with a disproportionate number of cases occurring in male persons, notably among adolescents after dose 2 and first boosters.

United States: COVID-19 weekly death rate by vaccination status, 50+

Re: COVID Vaccine and disease transmission

Andy Saffle
There is also this beautiful Gem floating out there... And no we're not Anti vaccine... We just actually follow evidence and Science

Andy Saffle As presented, I'm not sure that this is actual science. He expresses an opinion that these deaths are caused by the vaccine, but we would need a study to show that the vaccine causes excess deaths. I think that this kind of study has been done and I would have to look for it. If you look at the study that he quotes, it is showing deaths of 2 per million injections. First, we would have to show that this is actually caused by the vaccine and not just random noise. Meanwhile, the same study claims that the cardiac risk is much higher with the actual disease. In the United States, we have had a hundred million cases with 1.1 million deaths, which is a far greater risk than the vaccine. Roughly one out of every 300 people has died from the disease, including a cousin of mine. Given a choice between 2 out of a million or a 1% death rate that is a pretty obvious choice.

John Coffey Fact checks prove the point to be true EVERY TIME.. 100% of the time.. every Fact check that had been done Since 2015 has been proven to be true at some point.. I can give hundreds of examples of this..
Please keep citing fact checkers..

On some fact-checking sites, I agree that there is an extreme bias.
Confirmation bias is a very strong thing. People almost always believe things that match their preconceived notions.
Anecdotal evidence is not science. We need peer-reviewed studies that show excess deaths associated with the vaccine. I have seen something like this before, and I will try to find it. Even if there were excess deaths, which by all accounts is extremely low, we would have to balance that with the risk from the disease.

Andy Saffle
Oh don't worry, there's more <includes a picture of an article>

Here is the link to the article, which doesn't actually prove anything: https://www.nbcnews.com/.../vaccine-trials-should-monitor...

Brandolini's law, also known as the "bullshit asymmetry principle," holds that "the amount of energy needed to refute bullshit is an order of magnitude bigger than what's needed to produce it." This truism highlights that while the battle against misinformation more generally must be fought "face to face," the larger war against belief in misinformation won't be won without prevention. Once people are set in their ways, beliefs are notoriously hard to change.

John Coffey
The adverse effects of the COVID-19 vaccines have been well documented, and serious side effects are rare. The most common adverse event is soreness at the injection site, which for me seemed worse than usual.
You have a choice between a vaccine with rare serious adverse effects and a disease that has killed 1.1% of the people who got it. It is your body and your choice, and you may think that you are young and healthy and won't die from the disease, and you probably won't, but I have read about several cases of people in their 20s who have died.
One study found that the average brain shrinkage from a COVID-19 infection was 2%. Another study showed that COVID adversely affects every organ in the body. A large percentage of people have had adverse symptoms for up to a year.
This isn't just the seasonal flu. One of my friends lost his mother recently. I lost my cousin.
If a medicine had a 2 out of a million chance of killing you, that doesn't mean that you shouldn't take the medicine. Chemo has worse odds, and so does driving. It depends upon the risk of not taking the medicine.

COVID Vaccine and disease transmission

Around October 11nth, Pfizer executive Janine Small testified to the EU parliament that Pfizer did not test the vaccine for preventing transmission of Covid prior to it being made available to the public.  This was not actually a requirement for the Emergency Use Authorization.   They only had to show that it was safe and that it prevented people from getting the disease.  She explained that they did not have time to test for how the vaccine would affect transmissibility.  Additional studies would eventually come out showing that the vaccine reduced the transmission of the disease. (https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/nejmoa2116597)

The anti-vaxers and the conspiracy theorists took this "admission" and ran with it.  People I listen to on a regular basis started claiming that Pfizer admitted that the vaccine does not prevent transmission of the disease and that the government officials lied to us about it.   Some even claimed that the vaccine doesn't work, or that it was never tested.
https://fullfact.org/health/coronavirus-vaccine-pfizer-transmission-test/

However, none of these statements logically follow from the testimony of Janine Small.  The initial vaccine was 95% effective against the wild-type SARS-CoV-2.  If you reduce the infection rate then it is very likely that you also would reduce transmission of the disease.  It is possible for someone who is asymptomatic to transmit the disease, but would you rather hang out with someone who has full-blown COVID, or someone who is asymptomatic and has been vaccinated?

These kinds of errors in logic also have led to claims that the vaccine didn't work against the Omicron variation or that masks don't work.  A May 2022 study published in the New England Journal of Medicine showed that the booster shot was 49% effective against the Omicron variant.  For me, that was better than nothing, and the new bivalent booster is more effective. (https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2208343).

A study published in the Yale Medical Library Journal July 28, 2022 found that those wearing masks only had a 7% infection rate while those who didn't wear masks had a 52% infection rate.

Despite actual evidence suggesting otherwise, those who criticize the vaccines or masks often claim that they are following the science.

This might be my hottest take

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/VlThPXIVE8Y

There is an increasingly common disorder where people bitten by ticks become allergic to red meat, if not all meat.  This happened to my uncle who was an avid hunter.

I would also kill all the mosquitos. They kill more people than any other animal.

At-Home COVID-19 Antigen Tests-Take Steps to Reduce Your Risk of False Negative: FDA Safety Communication | FDA

Most at-home COVID-19 tests are antigen tests and do not detect the SARS-CoV-2 virus as well as molecular tests, most of which are laboratory-based such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests. Molecular COVID-19 tests are generally expected to detect the SARS-CoV-2 virus at least 95% of the time when someone is infected. However, at-home COVID-19 antigen tests are generally expected to detect the SARS-CoV-2 virus at least 80% of the time when someone is infected.

When you perform an at-home COVID-19 antigen test, and you get a positive result, the results are typically accurate. However, if you perform an at-home COVID-19 antigen test, you could get a false negative result.

The FDA recommends repeat testing following a negative result whether or not you have COVID-19 symptoms.

Effect of mRNA Vaccine Boosters against SARS-CoV-2 Omicron Infection in Qatar | NEJM

Compared to the primary series, booster effectiveness against symptomatic omicron infection was 49.4%, with the primary series 76.5%.

Study shows probability of getting COVID for mask wearers vs. non-mask wearers

In the healthcare setting, 9% of the mask wearers and 33% of the non-mask wearers tested COVID-19 positive.

Additionally, in community settings, the team noted that 6% of mask wearers and 83% of non-maks wearers tested SARS-CoV-2 positive.

Fwd: Possible COVID exposure

FYI

---------- Forwarded message ---------
From: John Coffey

Thank you for supporting the Greenwood Chess Club.

On Monday someone attended the Greenwood Chess Club who was symptomatic and later tested positive for COVID-19.  If you attended the chess club on Monday, I suggest taking an in-home test.  I tested myself and the test came out negative.  However, I quarantined this week just in case.

You can get free tests from the government.  They take several weeks to get delivered.  https://www.covid.gov/tests

Drug stores also sell COVID-19 tests.

I feel like I should not have to say this again, but please do not come to the Greenwood Chess Club if you are feeling sick or if you have symptoms.

There is much misinformation being spread about COVID, so I will address some of these issues here:

1.  The pandemic is over.

It has been my observation that most people are acting as if there is no pandemic.

One out of every 310 Americans has died from the disease.  I lost a cousin to COVID.  David Prowse (Darth Vader), Chloris Leachman, and Herman Cain died from the disease.

It used to be that measles was the most infectious disease on record, but the Omicron variant has surpassed measles.  In early November of last year, we had barely heard of the Omicron variant, but by late January of this year, it had caused a major surge in the United States.

https://fortune.com/2022/07/09/is-covid-omicron-more-transmissible-infectious-than-measles-ba4-ba5/

2. Cloth masks don't work.

People who attack mask usage always say that cloth masks don't work, which is true.  However, they ignore that other types of masks are at least partially effective at preventing the spread of COVID.

https://med.stanford.edu/news/all-news/2021/09/surgical-masks-covid-19.html

"Wearing an N95/KN95 respirator (aOR = 0.17; 95% CI = 0.05–0.64) or wearing a surgical mask (aOR = 0.34; 95% CI = 0.13–0.90) was associated with lower adjusted odds of a positive test result compared with not wearing a mask (Table 3). Wearing a cloth mask (aOR = 0.44; 95% CI = 0.17–1.17) was associated with lower adjusted odds of a positive test compared with never wearing a face covering but was not statistically significant."

https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/71/wr/mm7106e1.htm

3.  Vaccines don't prevent the spread of COVID.

As the virus has evolved, it reportedly has been more likely to have a vaccine breakthrough infection.

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/effectiveness/why-measure-effectiveness/breakthrough-cases.html

"Raw data shows the risk of breakthrough cases is very small for vaccinated people, potentially 1 in 5,000.

Additionally, the risk of being hospitalized from COVID-19 after vaccination is extremely small, at about 5 in 100,000.

A new study found people who were not vaccinated were five times as likely to get COVID-19 compared to people who were fully vaccinated."

https://www.healthline.com/health-news/what-is-your-actual-risk-of-getting-covid-19-if-youre-vaccinated

"COVID 19 vaccines are effective at protecting people from getting seriously ill, being hospitalized, and even dying."

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/vaccine-benefits.html

"Booster Shots of COVID-19 Vaccines Effective Against Omicron Subvariant"

https://covid19.nih.gov/news-and-stories/booster-shots-covid-19-vaccines-effective-against-omicron-subvariant#:~:text=A%20small%20study%20has%20found,and%20its%20most%20common%20subvariant.

I personally have stayed up to date with the booster shots and I have not yet caught the disease.

4.  The vaccines are experimental.

5. The vaccines rewrite your DNA.

The only known case of this was outside the human body in a petri dish with just liver cells.

However, the actual vaccines work primarily at the injection site.

"Research shows that spike proteins (here) remain stuck to the cell surface around the injection site and do not travel to other parts of the body via the bloodstream, they added. The 1% of the vaccine that does reach the bloodstream is destroyed by liver enzymes."

The vast majority of viruses rewrite your DNA in some of your cells.  Your immune system finds these cells and destroys them.  This is a much bigger issue with the disease than it is with the vaccines.

6. The spike protein is toxic.

First of all, you are going to get much more spike proteins with the disease than you are going to get with the vaccines.

Second, the vaccine spike protein was deliberately made different to prevent insertion into cells.

COVID-19 can have serious long-term consequences.  COVID can damage your organs.  COVID can cause 2% brain shrinkage, which is normally 0.1 to 0.2% per year in adults.

Spinal cord repair

Eventually, this may be very useful.

---------- Forwarded message ---------
From: Larry

A drug under investigation as a cancer treatment has shown exciting promise in a rather different branch of medical research, with scientists demonstrating how it can promote nerve repair following spinal injury. The breakthrough shows how the drug acts on a DNA damage response mechanism at play in both these unrelated conditions, and triggers a "remarkable" recovery in mice with injured spinal cords.
